Privacy and your choices

The information you choose to provide

The newsletter form asks for your email address and separate affirmative choices confirming that you are 18 or older and requesting the newsletter. We keep the request time, consent wording/version and pending status. We do not ask for your birth date or a product choice at signup.

When confirmation and delivery become available, we also keep confirmation time, subscription status, gift eligibility, the product selected during redemption, redemption status, and unsubscribe or suppression records. We use these records to confirm your address, send the newsletter you requested, deliver one eligible gift, prevent duplicate redemptions, handle support and respect your choices.

We do not request a diagnosis, patient record, medical history or treatment information. Choosing a cancer-reading product does not identify you as a patient, and we do not use it to infer a health condition.

Academic access and university email verification

Academic access is separate from the newsletter and does not enroll you in marketing. We collect your .edu email, request time, academic license version and request status. Verification currently requires you to send a one-time challenge from that exact mailbox to info@jerseypublishers.com for manual review. We verify trusted mailbox authentication evidence rather than relying on a typed address or claimed role. Do not send identity documents, health records or confidential research.

We retain a hashed request challenge, its seven-day expiry, verification time and a minimal support-message reference. After approval we keep your email, grant and license status, a hashed private access key, and hashed session tokens with up to 30-day expiry. Raw access keys and challenges are not stored in the academic database. We do not publish individual email addresses, institutions, logos or academic credentials without separate permission.

Supabase stores the academic requests, grants and session records on our behalf. Our hosting service applies connection-based abuse limits. Access checks and downloads use essential session cookies; cookies are HttpOnly and Secure in production. Academic inventory requests are private and are not cached as public pages.

Expired unapproved verification requests are normally removed after 90 days during ongoing service operation, unless a support issue requires longer. Approved grant records remain while needed to deliver program access, prevent abuse and honor the accepted license. Expired session records are removed during normal access operations. Contact info@jerseypublishers.com to delete or correct your records; deletion ends future account access but does not withdraw the academic license for files already lawfully downloaded. Loss of a university mailbox needs manual support review and is not an automatic grant to a different person.

Newsletter choice and email confirmation

The intended newsletter covers jasmonate science, research-reading methods, new articles and occasional product offers. It will be commercial email from Jersey Publishers. No mailing schedule has started. Your current form submission is a pending request, not a verified active subscription. You will be added to the active mailing list only after confirming your address when sending becomes available. A purchase alone does not enroll you.

Contact info@jerseypublishers.com to withdraw a pending request. Once newsletter sending begins, each marketing issue will have an unsubscribe link. No fee, account login or new personal information beyond the address to remove is required. We preserve a minimal suppression record so an import does not restart unwanted mail. A later subscription requires a fresh affirmative request and confirmation.

Requested confirmation, gift-delivery, receipt and support messages are handled separately from promotional issues. Withdrawing consent prevents future marketing; it does not revoke a gift already earned through verification.

Our service providers

Supabase stores pending newsletter requests and consent choices on our behalf. Confirmation and newsletter sending are not configured yet. Before using an email-delivery provider, we will identify it here and describe the confirmation, delivery, bounce, complaint and unsubscribe information it processes for us. We do not sell subscriber lists.

Purchases and any gift redemption completed through Gumroad use its independent checkout, receipt and delivery services. Gumroad receives the information needed for that transaction under its own privacy policy. Jersey Publishers receives information made available to the creator, such as purchase email, selected product, amount and order or refund status, for fulfillment and support. We do not receive full card numbers through the newsletter form.

Hosting and security providers process connection information needed to serve and protect the site. Service providers may process records outside your state or country. We use contractual and access safeguards appropriate to the service. A provider's own privacy notice does not replace this notice for records processed for us.

Website engagement

Our engagement records include page and destination paths, placement labels, a temporary random browser-tab identifier, referrer hostname, product and sample views, checkout and resource clicks, calculator and widget actions, scroll depth and estimated active time. These records describe use of pages and offers; they do not prove a purchase or personal attention.

The custom events omit email addresses, full URLs with query strings, referrer paths, search text, calculator values and entered garden or health records. Their random identifiers are not subscriber accounts. We do not join them to newsletter addresses to infer a diagnosis. Connection data may also be processed for security and rate limiting.

Custom engagement records are retained for up to 90 days. The tracker honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals and does not send its events from embedded calculators. Hosting analytics may have separate processing and retention. We have not added advertising pixels to these sales and learning pages.

Your records stay on your device

Calculator saves and offline notebook entries use your browser's storage. Exports create files on your device. PDF and CSV entries remain in files you save. These records are not uploaded to our newsletter database. Clear or export local records through the relevant tool; clearing browser storage can remove unsaved work.

A hosted widget connects to Jasmonate to load the calculator. Publication and credit links connect to external sites when followed. External journals, payment services and tools have their own notices.

When confirmation opens, an essential HttpOnly access cookie will keep your verified gift session for up to seven days. Temporary browser-tab storage will keep your gift receipt and an unused code so a interrupted selection can be retried. This storage does not contain your email address. Download links will expire after 15 minutes and are limited to the selected product.

Retention and security

Pending requests expire after 90 days from submission. A daily cleanup removes expired unconfirmed records. Confirmation links, when sending starts, expire after 72 hours and cannot extend the 90-day confirmation window. We keep active subscriber records while the subscription is active. After removal, we retain only the records reasonably needed to document consent, prevent repeat gifts, honor suppression, resolve delivery or refund issues and meet legal obligations. We periodically remove records no longer needed for these purposes.

Access to subscriber and gift records is restricted to authorized operations and service providers. No security system is infallible; we maintain reasonable safeguards and respond to incidents as required by applicable law. Do not send payment credentials or health records in support messages.

Your requests

Email info@jerseypublishers.com to request access, correction, deletion or a copy of information we hold about you, or to withdraw newsletter consent. We may ask for reasonable verification using the address concerned. We do not require identity documents unless genuinely needed for a particular legal request. We explain any lawful reason we must retain a limited record.

If we refuse a privacy request, reply with Privacy appeal and the request reference. We review the appeal and explain the result. Where the New Jersey Data Privacy Act applies, we follow its response and appeal deadlines and provide the Division of Consumer Affairs complaint route when required. Other applicable rights remain available. Gumroad handles requests relating to its own checkout and account records.

We do not sell newsletter or gift records or use them for third-party targeted advertising. We do not treat a person's page visits or product choice as a diagnosis. If processing changes, we update this notice, state the effective date and give a prominent notice of material changes. New marketing purposes require an appropriate new choice.

Adults and children

The newsletter and October gift are for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly accept under-18 subscribers. If you believe a child provided newsletter information, contact info@jerseypublishers.com so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate. Public research pages are general educational material; they are not a service for collecting children's records.

JASMONATE app and membership access

The free research app keeps its public models and journal on your device for offline access when supported. Its service worker caches only public app pages, code, styles and compound files. Private inventory responses, license keys and paid downloads are never put into that public cache. Clearing device or browser storage can remove cached public pages and local saves.

To restore the Lifetime Research Desk, you enter your purchase email and private license key. We send these to Gumroad to verify the membership product, receipt email, refund and dispute status. We store an encrypted verification record, a hashed session token, the purchase reference and expiry. The browser uses an essential HttpOnly session cookie for up to 30 days. Verification is repeated for inventory and downloads. We do not record license keys or email in engagement events.

Supabase privately stores the current inventory files. Our server requests only known inventory assets after purchase verification. Downloaded files are saved to your device only when you choose to download. Sessions expire after 30 days and are deleted on browser sign-out or later expired-session cleanup. Contact info@jerseypublishers.com to request deletion of membership verification records. Purchase records needed for refunds, tax or other legal obligations can have separate retention.

The native iOS app is a proposed future release, with a public coming soon roadmap at /ios. No App Store download is available. The coming soon feature tabs do not collect support pledges or health information. Public funding totals, if published later, will use reconciled aggregate payment records without disclosing contributor identities. Any future native data practices will be disclosed before release.
